CRI provides work services, at CRI and in the community, to individuals
with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
At CRI we believe that independence for individuals with disabilities
begins with work and employment. We offer a variety of services to
help individuals develop their vocational goals, build work skills,
gain work experience, and find and keep the right job in the community
or at our own site.
CRI is a Community Rehabilitation Program that
provides vocational services at CRI and in the community to individuals
with disabilities and other barriers to employment. We believe that independence
for individuals with disabilities begins with work and employment. We
offer a variety of services to help individuals develop their vocational
goals, build work skills, gain work experience, and find and keep
the right job in the community or at our own site.
Intake/Orientation: CRI Vocational
Rehabilitation staff provide an intake and orientation process
that includes an interview/tour, employment eligibility determination,
medical information, and other paperwork.
Assessment: As
assessment will identify an individual’s strengths and limitations. It
is also used to provide a baseline for developing vocational services. Further,
assessments are conducted to determine potential eligibility for
services at CRI.
Work Services: Individuals engage in
paid work activity and are provided various packaging/assembly jobs. A
work plan with six-month follow-ups is conducted. Individuals
are rated on a variety of areas such as quality and quantity of work,
attendance, and punctuality.
Supported Employment: Identified
and interested individuals are referred to the Division of Vocational
Rehabilitation (DVR) for Supported Employment (SE) services. The
local DVR office will determine eligibility and arrange for a local
vendor to work with the individual on his/her community employment
goals.
Rest Area Maintenance: In a joint
contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Rehabilitation
For Wisconsin, CRI’s State Association, CRI hires individuals
to assist with maintaining six rest area sites throughout Chippewa
and Rusk counties. The program operates from April through
November each year.
Speech and Language Therapy: Individuals
with limited communication skills may receive speech and language
therapy if eligibility and referral requirements are met. Services
are provided to develop and enhance functional communication abilities
and other areas of need. |
